Project news

The Workshop dedicated to FLEDGED project results at the 28th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (eEUBCE 2020) on Thursday July, 9th 2020 (14.00-15.30) has been a success. The project partners left some interesting presentations for you on the website. Some detailed works will be also presented during the regular sessions. Available presentations
FLEDGED partners presented several activities of the project during the regular sessions of the 28th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) on 6-9th July 2020. The FLEDGED topics covered during the regular sessions are: Biofuels and biochemicals by separation enhanced reactions maximising carbon and energy efficiency (TNO)Techno-economic analysis of flexible Power&Biomass-to-Methanol plants (POLIMI)Sustainability and safety assessment of DME production from biomass gasification with flexible sorption-enhanced processes (INERIS) Have a look to poster and presentations in the download section.
The fifth FLEDGED project newsletter has been released activities on biomass gasification are completed and many interesting results are available !! Final experimental results on SEG process experiments in BFB at CSIC-ICB and in the University of Stuttgart pilot facility, for both stationary and flexible operation. Gasification performance assessed using wood pellet, grape seeds and Econward treated waste. Successful tests involved steam-to-carbon, temperature and solid inventory influence evalutation. The optimal catalyst-sorbent mixture has been selected for SEDMES testing and catalyst deactivation mitigation strategies developed. Preliminary tests in the TRL4 facility exhibit good conversion and regeneration performance.Large scale SEG simulation with calibrated
An open access publication about "Sorption enhanced dimethyl ether synthesis for high efficiency carbon conversion: Modelling and cycle design" has been published on the International Scientific Journal of CO2 Utilization by ECN part of TNO. Have a look to this interesting work here.
University of Stuttgart presented the work "Syngas production for DME synthesis from Sorption Enhanced Gasification of Biomass: A Pilot Plant-based Case Study" at the International Conference on Polygeneration Strategies in Wien on 18-20th November 2019. The presentation is available in the download section of the website.
TNO (The Netherlands) hosted the sixth progress meeting of the FLEDGED consortium on November, 12-13th. Experimental results and plant simulations have been presented. Look forward to the interesting outcomes of our work. Download material available here, while the project results will be presented during next events.
FLEDGED project has been presented by ECN part of TNO at the Netherlands Process Technology Symposium (NPS16) in Eindhoven (The Netherland) on 30-31 October 2019. The presentation is available in the download section of the website.
An open access publication about "Experimental investigation on sorption enhanced gasification (SEG) of biomass in a fluidized bed reactor for producing a tailored syngas" has been published on the International Scientific Journal "Fuel" by CSIC. Have a look to this interesting work here.
Dalia Liuzzi and Cristina Peinado (ICP CSIC) are now presenting two posters at the 5th International Congress on Catalysis for Biorefineries conference taking place in Turku (Finland) on 23-27th September 2019. The topics discussed are "In situ CO2-rich syngas pre-treatment to promote the methanol production rate over CZA catalysts" and " Support and reaction conditions effects on the catalytic activity of supported tungstosilicic acid for the dimethyl ether production". Both the posters are available in the download section of the website.
The advancement on SEDMES process has been presented by ECN part of TNO at the 12th European Congress of Chemical Engineering, held in Florence (Italy) on 15-19th September 2019. The contribution presented an elaborate model study on the cyclic SEDMES process, which is conducted in parallel to an experimental research line. The combination of theory and experiments in a fundamental way is crucial for a proper understanding of this type of process.Presentations on SEDMES system and maximization of carbon efficiency through steam separation enhancement are available in the download section of the website.
